In the area of testing IDIADA focuses on testing in automotive industry. IDIADA works long-term in certain areas, which connected with CAD and CAE support creates closed logic units with high know-how value. These basic areas:

Passive safety

Tests of passive safety include crash testy, passengers’ protection, protection of pedestrians, and further also tests of retaining systems and structural analyses

Active safety

Tests of active systems include mainly analyses of chassis parts – breaking systems with stabile functions solution, roll-over tests, and solution of spring suspension - from optimization of chassis setting up to active suspension (hardware in loop)

Powertrain

Tests in the area of powertrain include complete development of engine management, calibration and optimization of engines, switch over alternative fuels including CNG, solving optimization of exhaust gasses

NVH

In the area of acoustics the main focus is on acoustic tuning in the interior of the car and on solving the external acoustics. Another independent category makes analyses of radiation and leading of noise and vibrations of specific parts of cars.

Comfort

Testing the comfort is divided into two basic parts – testing driving comfort and temperature comfort. Both parts can be solved from the view of subjective perception and objective analysis. Subjective perception can include also researches which are based on larger groups of population.

Reliability

Tests of reliability are focused on functional and persistence testing of different parts and segments of the car

Electronics

Testing in the area of electronics focuses on support of development of board electronic systems including EMC from the view of methodical support of the development and also the technical solution as well. An independent part is the solution of electric drives.

Industrial processes and materials

The area includes design and optimization of laser technologies and injection of plastics. An independent part is the material research

In all above mentioned areas IDIADA has been investing into the research on long-term basis with a view to systematically increase the level of knowledge and to create new methodical procedures.
